What Is A Vapor Steam Cleaner?:
A vapor
steam cleaner is a
machine that generates super heated
steam vapor inside of a sealed
internal boiler system. Through a
series of ports the dry steam is
directed out of the boiler, down the
hose and out any of the various
cleaning attachments. These systems
put out an amazing 95% or higher dry steam.
The steam is so dry that you can
shoot the steam into the air and
have virtually no water hit the
floor. Most, depending upon the
specific type of steam cleaner,
they will often use
as little as one gallon of water
over the course of a whole hour of
not stop cleaning or sanitizing!
This is pretty amazing indeed. This
low water usage makes a vapor steam
cleaner ideally suited for use in
your home, office or place of
business. They are designed and
perfectly suited for indoor use.
that being said, the have hundreds
of applications for use in the
outdoors. Note, this type of steamer
is not, nor does it have a vacuum.
Frankly, it is not needed. A simple
face-cloth or towel is all you need
to wipe up after cleaning. By the
way, virtually all of our steam
cleaners plug into a standard US
outlet! No special power
requirements.

kitchens, eating areas, locker
rooms. Home owners love using them

Steam Cleaners are
called by many
Names:
Well, this is a great point. There
are many kinds of so called steam
cleaners on the market today making for
a lot of confusion over the term steam
cleaner. The kind of steam cleaner
we will be discussing, at least for the
most part, will be a "dry vapor steam
cleaner" or as some like to say, a
real steam cleaner. A true dry
vapor steam cleaner puts out super
heated 95% by volume dry steam, not
water. More on that in a above.
A
dry
vapor steam cleaner is called
by several names. You may hear them
referred to generically as a
steam cleaner (most common
name) or any of the
following names. Vapor system, vapor
steamer,
vapor steam cleaner, vapor
steam system, vapor cleaner, vapour
cleaner, dry steam cleaner, dry vapor
cleaner, dry steamer, dry vapor system,
dry steam cleaner or any combination of
the above. Most commonly you will hear
the term steam cleaner or vapor steam
cleaner.

Types
of Steamers:
As you have read above, one family of steam
cleaners are the very popular "vapor
steam cleaner" systems. However there
are also other family groups on the market.
Within the realm or family of vapor steam cleaners
there are many variations. We will
discuss variations within the vapor
steam family in another section. Lets
discuss the different family groups
first. Most steam family groups
are wet steam cleaners. Only vapor steam
cleaners are "dry". A wet steam
system measures their
water usage in gallons per minute or
GPM making them very difficult to use
indoors. So, what are these other
families of
"steam cleaners"? By far the most common
pieces of cleaning equipment referred to
as steam cleaners are...
- Dry Vapor
Steam Cleaner
(our discussion here)
most often simply called a Steam
Cleaner
- Carpet &
Upholster "wet" Steam Cleaner
Extractors.
Caution, the word wet is
rarely used in advertising!
- High
Pressure - Wet Steam Power
Washers
First,

Second
Type, Carpet & Upholstery "wet"
Steam Cleaners:
These systems are designed totally
differently yet are VERY often
referred to using the same generic
terminology. We get many calls
starting out with someone asking
about one of our steam cleaners like
our 4000-C only to find out they are
really looking for a pressure
washer. The terminology is
important, but defining it is much
more important.
A
carpet or upholstery cleaner
works by warming the water up via an
in-line heater and pushing it out at
high pressure through a wand of some
kind. The wand is attached to a
suction hose which then extracts the
dirty water. These systems are often
called extractors as they extract
(vacuum) up the water as they clean.
This may sound attractive but these
units us a lot of water. Anywhere
from 1 to 2 gallons of water pre
minute. When used incorrectly they
can saturate a rug or furniture
resulting in mold. We carry a full
line of
heated "steam cleaner" carpet
and
auto detail upholstery extractors.
If you application is cleaning
carpets commercially, then we have
you covered. If you want clean
couches, chairs, automotive car
seats, upholstery and the like, we
have some of the best auto detail
extractors on the planet!
See all here. To sum it
up, this type of cleaner uses a lot
of water and should best be
classified as a "wet steam cleaner".
Third
Type, High Pressure - Wet Steam
Power Washers:
This type uses ultra high pressure
water in combination with large
volumes of water to blast away dirt.
You really don't want to use one of
these babies indoors unless under
ideal and controlled circumstances.
A
heated pressure washer is
often referred to falsely as a steam
cleaner. Most heated power washers
only heat up to around 140 degrees
F. Though this is more then hot
enough, especially when combined
with detergent for most cleaning
applications it is not steam. To be
fair, there are some pressure units
that do generate super heated steam.
Again, the difference being in water
volume. Even our world class
Steam Jenny Wet Steam Cleaning
Systems use about 1
gallon of water per minute when in
steam mode. If you are curious, we
do have a FULL line of wet steam
cleaners available. They range from
hot water, cold water to wet steam.
They have flow ratings from 1 to 10
gallons of water per minute! Massive
power up to 3,500 PSI, that is
pounds per square inch. Feel free to
browse our selection. As you can
see, this type of system is nothing
like a true dry vapor steam cleaner
which uses less then one gallon per
HOUR, not minute.
